Senior Manager - Database Systems

Reporting to the CIO and as member of the IT Management Committee, I was responsible for Management of database technology, infrastructure and data personnel across the organisation.

Also operated in a Program Management capacity, directing Project Managers across a number of database conversion and consolidation projects.

Rationalisation

Created business case and received funding for projects to rationalise the existing multiple database systems to a two tiered solution.

Delivered to first project myself migrating multiple Sybase on Sun Databased to a more cost effective Oracle on Linux Cluster.

Systems Architecture

Created a vision for the future of Aviva’s Infrastructure Architecture and build a roadmap for delivering the agreed vision through the consolidation and rationalisation of existing infrastructure.

Eagle Insurance

Requested by a colleague in the London office to provide assistance in Sri Lanka. The recent deployment of a new system was failing to process the required volume of data.

I spent a week in Sri Lanka working with the local team, IBM and the Malaysian development team to resolve the issues and return the business to correct function.
